History week 25.

Queen Elizabeth I, often referred to as the “Good Queen Bess,” was the last monarch of the House of Tudor. She reigned as Queen of England and Ireland from November 17, 1558, until her death on March 24, 1603. Elizabeth was the daughter of King Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn. Elizabeth is known for establishing the Elizabethan Religious Settlement, which created the Church of England as a middle way between Roman Catholicism and Protestantism. Her reign is often considered a golden age in English history, marked by the flourishing of the arts, including the works of William Shakespeare and Christopher Marlowe. Elizabeth’s reign saw the defeat of the Spanish Armada in 1588, a significant victory that established England as a major European power. She was known for her political savvy, managing to navigate complex international relations and internal politics without marrying or producing an heir.
