A Suspension bridge is a big local bridge like a Golden Gate bridge and San Fransico bridge. Over 56,000 people cross the San Fransisco bridge a day. Long ago ancients made bridges out of hard rock and metal, but others made bridges out of chains and wood which was flimsy. The longest bridge ever was close to 6,200 feet which is a little over a mile. There are over 200 different bridges in different countries and states. Without bridges we wouldn’t be able to get over water and rocks with our cars. Did you know 62% of bridges were built over the water? Well, most bridges are made out of metal, but some were made out of rocks. Have you ever seen a rock bridge across water? Well, that’s from the Romans, Greeks and Egyptians building daily. There was an event held on a day where Romans against the Egyptians in a build contest, and the romans won, so the Egyptians got mad and killed over 26 Romans. Not only did they make the bridge out of rocks, but they also used wood from the forest as well.
